Review: In Daughter of the Siren Queen, the story picks up right after the ending of book one. There is no big timelapse. The story flows well from book one to book two. At the start of this book, Alosa has not forgotten Vordan and has found him and his crew hiding out on land. However, upon catching him Vordan reveals something about her father that Alosa was not expecting to hear. *No spoilers here!*
But, before she can head out to her father’s keep to discuss the plans to travel to Isla de Canta, Alosa must make one last stop and drop off Riden and his brother at the nearest port. However, Riden decides to stay with Alosa as part of her crew. This excites and worries Alosa, because she is afraid of her feelings towards him.
There is a big plot twist a few chapters in and Alosa is pretty shaken by it. This in turn causes her to turn against her father and for most of the book she is trying to get away from him and make it to the island first. More time is spent on Riden and Alosa’s developing relationship in this book than in book 1. Alosa also learns that her ability to control the siren underwater has something to do with Riden, and you finally get to see how powerful she can be in her siren form.
I really enjoyed this duology and wish there was a book 3! But, the story wraps up well enough at the end. There is more danger and death in this book and it certainly keeps you glued to the page! A must read for pirate/siren fans! If you like this series, I also recommend To Kill A Kingdom by Alexandra Christo.
